The era of big ministries is coming to an end and the era of big people is arising!
Genesis 11:1-4 says, “Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there. They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
The era of big ministries began as a mustard seed of faith, trust, truth, and authentic hunger for God, His word and His people. However, as the building got bigger, the ministry did not keep going back to the foundation before it built another layer, so now the ministry is so far from the truth, that they do not even know truth when they hear it or the building is big but the presence of God is minimal to non-existent. Before the temple was destroyed in AD 70, it was already corrupt and left desolate (Matthew 23:38 and Matthew 26:64). They did not destroy a living entity, they destroyed an already desolate artifact, that had the appearance of godliness, but denied its power (2 Timothy 3:5). And Jesus prophesied this would happen in the gospel of Matthew, saying, not one stone would be left on another (Matthew 24:2).
We are living in the end of an era just like they were in the gospels. Jesus was the beginning of a new era, He said, repent, for the kingdom of heaven is here (Matthew 3:2). Prophets in our day and age have been saying this for years, repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. They have been trying to tell us a new era is here, the kingdom has come, the church age is over, but we can’t comprehend what they are saying. So, we continue to try and be the next big name with the next big building, so people ooh and ahh over us; so people buy our books; want to have us come and speak in their church. I’m telling you what they have been telling you, the era of big ministries is coming to an end, that is why you are being halted, stopped, you feel stuck, because those days are over.
Here’s where we are, God is building big people. They are huge on the inside, they don’t have a big building, they don’t have a huge following on Twitter, Periscope or Instagram, but they are huge on the inside. You see the saying is still true today, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart” (I Samuel 16:7). Man will always look to see how big your church is, how many books you’ve written or how many souls you’ve saved, but God, is searching to and fro for a heart that is completely His (2 Chronicles 16:9). Many are discouraged because they are not getting the big break, the big book deal, the big phone call and many are promising you still, this is going to happen, but the truth is, God has been and continues to, look for those who are big on the inside, not big on the outside.
God is looking for big people. The kingdom is a government of big people, not big ministries. The kingdom of God is filled with big people, when they speak the hallways of heaven echo their words, when they pray sickness is healed, relationships are restored, finances recovered and the presence of God comes in power. These people are unassuming, not self-promoting, they are not trying to make a name for themselves, for they are secure in their identity as son or daughter or God. They dwell in the shelter of the Highest, they don’t live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, they know their God and they will do great exploits. These big people live in condo’s, companies, churches, and communities as everyday people, because outwardly they are not flashy, showy or seeking attention, but oh if you get a chance to hear them speak, if you spend any time with them, you will know they are big on the inside and these are the ones that are arising. These are the diamonds in the dirt that many have walked over, but who God was forging in the secret place when no one was looking.
The era of big ministries is over, the era of big people is arising. If you’re looking to be a big ministry, you are going to be looking for an old wineskin, but if you are willing to be a big person, there is no telling what He will do with you, as a vessel of honor fit for the Master’s use!
Many are asking when is this wilderness season going to come to an end? When are we going to see the manifestation of the promises God and others have spoken over us? What is causing the delay? If you are asking these kinds of questions, I have good news for you. God is not slack in fulfilling His promises, but he is patient, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to the knowledge of God (2 Peter 3:9). When it comes to the Lord God in heaven there is no such thing as delay. He lives in now time, all the time. Most will not argue with that, so then they bring it to what they call the second heaven, so the delay must be because the enemy is holding it up. This thought comes from one verse in Daniel 10:13 which says Daniel’s answer was delayed 21 days because of a principality. However, this season we have been in has been for years, not weeks, but years. So, is it possible it is not a delay due to the devil or God, but someone we have not yet identified?
1 Corinthians 10:11 says, “These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.” What things? All the wilderness things. The nation of Israel is an example to us as a warning, so we don’t make the same mistakes they made. But what exactly was their issue, what hindered them from entering the promised land and possessing the promises of God? It wasn’t God, it wasn’t Moses, it wasn’t the devil, the person who kept them out of the promise land was…themselves! They refused to surrender to God, they refused to submit to God, they refused to be content with God, it was them, they were the issue. How do I know this, because a whole generation had to die off, so the next generation could enter in the promised land. Is it possible the delay is not the devil, not God, but me, but you? I believe this is where we need to look, not outside of us, but inside of us. Not to someone else, or something else, but to ourselves.
I believe that the wilderness battle is a battle with self, not with God or the devil. The point of the wilderness is to teach us how to win the battle over ourselves, not the devil, not God, but us. Our battle is with ourselves, that is why this battle is taking so long. David said in Psalm 55:12-14 “If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship at the house of God, as we walked about among the worshipers.” The closer the person is to us, the harder it is to deal with it, because they are so close, we would never suspect them to be our issue. I believe God is working out with diligence and consistency the Lordship issue in our life. He is wrestling with us, not us wrestling with the devil or some principality. Until we surrender, until we stop trying to be in control, until we say mercy and let Him be God, not in certain areas of our lives, but over our whole lives, I am not sure we will leave the wilderness.
The reason for this intense battle, the reason it is taking so long, is because our battle is within, not without and it is a battle between us and God. He is trying to get us to trust Him, not situationally, but eternally. I know many will argue with me on this point, but the truth is, the issue is not outside of us, the issue is inside of us and He is not going to let us go, until this battle over self is won and Jesus Christ is Lord over all of our life. Once He has all of us, trust me, we will possess the promised land, for He is a covenant keeping God and He is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19). If you read Psalm 105-106 it will give you a history of Israel’s battle with themselves and once they win that battle, then they begin to fight the enemies who are squatting on their promise, but if you try to deal with external enemies before you deal with internal ones, your victory will be short term, that is why God is cleaning the inside of the cup in our lives, during this wilderness season, so when we enter the promised land, the enemy will be defeated with a word. Is it possible, this is what’s taking so long?
What year is it? If you read what some people write you would think we are in Y2K. Fears of EMP’s going out; earthquakes wiping out whole cities; nuclear bombs blowing up this or that; and this is not what the news is saying, this is what “prophets” are saying. It sounds so much like Y2K, that if you do not have a discerning ear to hear the voice of God, you are going to hear the voice of the media coming out of the “prophets” of the land. I am not saying we should ignore reality, but let’s not say, God said, when He did not say, just so we can sound prophetic when something happens. If you are a true prophet of God, you are to intercede when you hear of destruction looming, so it does not come near us, not sow fear in us, so people hide rather than thrive.
Again, back to the original question, what year is this? It is 5777 in the Hebrew Calendar and 2017 in the Gregorian Calendar, no matter how you slice it, it is the year of victory! We are still living in a year of victory and we need to remind ourselves of this or we will lose courage and this year will come and go without manifesting victory. Victory has been declared in heaven over this year and we are about to see it manifest here on the earth, but we must believe the report of the Lord, not the report of the media.
I had a dream last night and if I lived with fear, I might have interpreted it as a Y2K event coming and it would have gotten a lot of shares and likes, but as I prayed into the dream, what the Lord showed me blew my mind. How do I know it was God? Because He showed me my dream in His word. So, here’s my dream. I was driving in a car with someone and we were going through a small city and on the horizon, I saw dark clouds, two tornados and a flaming horse running along the horizon. Above the obvious storm, I saw clear skies, blue and with big white clouds. I told my driver, hey we better get home, for there is a storm coming. We circled the city one more time, out of sheer enjoyment, and then headed back to the house to prepare for the storm. End of dream. I was not afraid at all, but three significant images stood out to me as I thought about the dream.
1. Dark clouds
2. Two tornadoes
3. Flaming horse
I have learned from John Paul Jackson’s Dreams and Mysteries series how to understand the significance of these symbols, so I began the process of seeking to discover what God was saying. I learned from my search that twin tornadoes are called a multi vortex, and of course the dark clouds were obvious to me that a storm was on the horizon. My first thought was the political climate of our world right now. This interpretation of my dream, would have been accurate, if God did not give me His interpretation. So, I went out in my garden to pray and I asked the Lord to reveal to me what the dream meant as I was unclear of the significance and felt like my interpretations were not carrying the truth He was seeking to release. In addition, the flaming horse was significant and did not have a place in my interpretation as of yet.
I came in the house after prayer and looked up flaming horse in the bible, seeking to get clarity as I sensed the Lord was saying, you’re missing a piece and what I discovered in the Word blew my mind. The dream is about 2 Kings 2, not some apocalyptic event like a potential Y2K. I was reading 2 Kings 2 about Elijah and his process before going to heaven. There was the dark clouds (Elisha’s grief); the two tornadoes (whirlwind) and the flaming horse (horses of God); all right there in 2 Kings 2. I was overwhelmed and asked the Lord what He was saying. You will need to read the chapter, but this is the jist of what I believe God is saying to the bride in this hour.
You were invited to stay at Bethel (the house of bread that releases health), but you followed me on to Jericho. You were invited to stay in Jericho (place of war that releases plunder), but you followed me on to the Jordan. While at the Jordan, you and I crossed over together and then I told you, Ask what you want from me (what do you want?); you answered a double portion of my spirit (many interpretations for this); then when Elijah went to heaven, Elisha ripped his garment, and Elijah’s garment fell to earth; then Elisha folded Elijah’s garment and said, where is the God of Elijah and parted the sea to cross back over in the spirit and power of Elijah.
You have stayed with Jesus all the way to the Jordan, you had chances to stop in places that would have feed you well, supplied you abundantly, but you resolved that where You go I go and what You say I say, so you didn’t stop, you kept following Him and now we are at the Jordan, not the Joshua 3 crossing, this is the 2 Kings 2 crossing and when the fire falls on us like in Acts 2, we who stayed in the upper room will be endued with power from on high, all because we stayed all the way. This is not Y2K we are seeing, this is all a set up for 2K2. I’m ready, are you?
Is it just me or do you sense something has shifted in the spirit toward a move of God like we have been praying for, believing for and hoping for? Many have tried to describe what they see coming. Bob Jones’ prophecy is lingering that a billion-soul harvest is near; others have said the death of Billy Graham will usher in a worldwide revival; Lance Wallnau and Johnny Enlow are declaring the taking over of the 7 mountains and still some are speaking of a financial windfall for the advancing of the kingdom of God on earth. Sometimes I think we hear what our heart beats for, our heart desires, our dreams that long to be seen and that is not wrong, it’s just our desire. So, what actually is coming that all of us can jump into and see on a macro level that will affect us on a micro level? I can only share what I am seeing in the spirit and what I am waiting for the manifestation of on the earth. I see abundance coming and upon its arrival it will release a repentance that only abundance can bring. Look at these two scriptures:
Isaiah 6:1-5 says, “I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
Luke 5:4-8 “When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”
When Isaiah saw the Lord as a victorious king, for the train of a kings robe is a statement about all the battles they have won, of which we know the Lord never loses a battle, so the train filled the temple, he had won a lot of battles. This vision of the goodness of God, the victories of God, the picture of God as victorious, didn’t bring pride or arrogance into Isaiah, it actually brought humility, repentance and a returning to the Lord God Almighty. The same thing happened to Peter, this professional fisherman, who worked all night and caught nothing, was not puffed up when the nets full of fish were breaking, he was actually humbled by the abundance on arrival.
What I see coming is an abundance of God’s goodness that is going to lead people to repentance not to arrogance. It is going to come with an abundance of healing, finances, reconciliation of relationships, return of prodigals and salvation of loved ones. God is going to shower us with an abundance of rain and upon its arrival, we are not going to rise up in pride, we are going to fall to our knees in worship. Weeping will proceed dancing, not out of sadness, out of being overwhelmed at how good He really is. We have a generation that believes God is mad, distance, untouchable and not interested in helping them, but God is about to show up and show out in a way that, like Isaiah and Peter is going to cause us to repent then rejoice because of the abundance.
Remember Paul said in Romans 2:4 “do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?” I believe abundance on arrival is going to bring us to our knees in worship like wrath, judgement and condemnation never could. Honestly, we all know we have fallen short of the glory of God, but how many of us know that He wants to pour out His abundance on us anyway? This unexpected, undeserved act of generosity from God is going to turn nations to the Name that is above all Names. Are you ready for abundance? It’s going to be bigger than you could ask or even begin to imagine.
In the Bible, every story we read, every person we admire, everything in there from miracles to provision, healing to deliverance, it all happened to people who had faith in the Voice of God that they heard personally or through someone else.
They had no bible they could read in whatever version they preferred. They heard and they believed, so they bowed, shouted, stood in awe of an invisible God. They worshipped, they prayed, they offered sacrifices all based on a voice they heard.
Compare them to us who have more than one Bible but can’t hear the Voice. Who when we do hear ignore what is said and disobey willfully. Yet still want revival, prosperity, grace, joy, and eternal life. There is something seriously wrong with Christianity today.
The cross did not remove the cost of discipleship, did not declare disobedience as acceptable, did not give you and I something for nothing. To whom much has been given much is required. We have forgiveness of sins so we can live righteously not wickedly, we have a bible so we can mature not stay childish and we have pastors not so they can entertain us one day a week but so they can train, equip and deploy us to do the work of the ministry.
It’s time to rethink what we’ve been given in JESUS because the disrespect He endures from us is embarrassing. It is time to honor the Lord by repentance, humility and becoming lovers of God and lovers of people. Jesus is not and add on to our life, He is our life!
“There is no such thing as delay, there is a lack of understanding the day.” This is what the Lord spoke to me this morning while in prayer. It has become popular to tell people they need to bind the spirit of delay; they need to prophesy, no more delay; and a variety of other variations of this vein. But, the Lord said to me, “there is no such thing as delay, there is a lack of understanding the day.” As I pondered these words, I realized we feel like there is a delay, because we put a time frame on the promise God has spoken. That is not delay, that is us not understanding the day.
In Joshua 6 the Lord speaks a word of promise to Joshua and the children of Israel about the city of Jericho, saying, “I have given Jericho, its king, and all its soldiers into your hands.” When God says something, it is going to happen, but when it happens is in the following verses, for the chapter goes on to release the strategy that needs to be employed for the promise to be actualized. Joshua 6:3-5 gives the strategy, “Every day for the next six days, you will march once around the city walls with all your fighting force. Seven priests will go in front of the covenant chest, each carrying a trumpet made from a ram’s horn. On the seventh day, you will march around the city walls seven times, and the priests will blow their trumpets. When they play a long final blast, then all the people will give a mighty shout. The city walls will collapse in front of you, and all the Israelites will charge in and take the city.” Anyone of those soldiers could have decreed no more delay after day 1, 2, 3 or more, but it was not a delay, rather they were unaware of the day. If it is day 3, 4 or 5 there was not going to be any sign of victory for it was not the right day.
When we are unaware of what day we are in, based on the strategy God has spoken to us, we will cry, delay! But it is not a delay, we just don’t understand what day it is. People do this with so many things. We do it with prophesy, we do it with scripture, we do it with our end time ideas. If we don’t know the day, we won’t know where we are, but one thing is for sure, there is no delay. Joel 2 says, “In the last days…” (plural); Matthew 24:36 says, “On that day…” (singular); Galatians 6:9 speaks to a “due season”; whereas Romans 13:11 says, “now is the time and the hour…”. There is no such thing as delay, but there is a lack of understanding the days, day, season, time, or hour.
Many of us have a promise from God, we know that we know, God said…but the timing is where we are off. If we were honest, God did not give us a when it would happen, He only told us what would happen. For maturity to take place, it is important that we stop imposing our thoughts, our time frame, our faith in ourselves, rather we must listen not just to the promise, but the strategy about how to employ the promise and then we will better understand the day we are on, so we can be patient in the process, for the promise will not delay. Remember Habakkuk 2:3 “For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.”
“Don’t yell or shout. Don’t let your voice be heard until the day I tell you. And then I want you to shout with all your might” (Joshua 6:10). If you are still in the silent stage, don’t worry it is not a delay, it is just not the day. Once the day arrives, trust me, you will shout, the walls will fall, the victory will be sure and the battle will be won quickly, for the Lord will say, NOW! Shout unto God with a voice of triumph! (Psalm 47:1). It is not a delay, it is design, because with God there is no delay.
When other people are getting book deals and you’ve written books with no deal; when others are out preaching, worship leading, doing missions or whatever it is you want to be doing and you are called to stay home and wait, it is not hard to realize how that slight shift from contentment to discontentment can take place. But, there is a still small voice that comes in and says, wait for the mantle. In the story of the Acts 1, upper room, 500 people started in the upper room together, but only 120 were there waiting when the mantle came. That means 380 people left the upper room because they were tired of waiting. Wait for the mantle.
The wait has felt long, some have prophesied, no more delay; others have said we are long overdue; but the still small voice of God says, wait for the mantle. Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “My intentions are not always yours, and I do not go about things as you do. My thoughts and My ways are above and beyond you, just as heaven is far from your reach here on earth”. Wait for the mantle.
What is the mantle we are waiting for? The Lord showed me yesterday, that the mantle is something He is going to put on us, it is not coming from within us, it is coming upon us. He said it is like the garment of praise that is spoken about in Isaiah 61:3 or the mantle that Elijah threw on Elisha in 1 Kings 19:19; He went on to tell me that we are going to be clothed in power like in Acts 1:8 and Luke 24:49. It is literally going to be a mantle that comes upon us like the robe the father put on his son in Luke 15:22. This mantle is going to be put on us, like Joseph’s coat of many colors in Genesis 37:3 and when people see it they are going to see God not us; which will prompt them to ask who is your God, we will not have to tell them they need Jesus. Wait for the mantle.
Then today, as I sat down to write this blog, I Google’d mantle and this is the first definition that popped up, “a loose sleeveless cloak or shawl, worn especially by women”. My jaw dropped, I did not expect to read this, but it completely confirms what the prophets are saying, that God is going to do a mighty work with women, ladies, wait for the mantle, men watch for the mantle, we are about to experience a move of God like none in our generation. Men and women will be wearing a mantle that is so God, people will not want to know your name, they will want to know His name. Wait for the mantle.
In the lyrics of the song Take Courage by Kristi DeMarco remember,
Slow down, take time
Breath in, he said
He’d reveal what’s to come
The thoughts in his mind
Always higher than mine
He’ll reveal all to come
Take courage, my heart
Stay steadfast, my soul
He’s in the waiting
He’s in the waiting
Hold on to your hope
As your triumph unfold
Sing praise, my soul
Find strength in joy
Let his words lead you on
Do not forget his great faithfulness
He’ll finish all he’s begun
And you who hold the stars
Who call them each by name
Will surely keep your promise to me
That I will rise in your victory
